Abruzzo airport
Is located in Pescara. It is clean, spacey and quite small, there is a small cafe, magazine stand, tourism stand, estate agency which by many people are accused of overcharging naive Enlgish tourists, and several shops selling Abruzzese delicacies.
You can find more information about it here: (copy into your browser)

You can arrange car hire with some of the major car hire companies in Pescara.
If you are hiring a car be sure to have a current credit card with you as this is all that most car hire companies will accept.
Or you can arrange for pickup with this company who I recommend, (I know the owner)
www.abruzzonoleggi.com
If you want to use the above service, please e-mail me your flight itinerary and pickup, dropoff details as the owner, Sebastiano as with most Italians, does not speak much Italians.
Transport links to and from Pescara airport.
I believe there are buses you can look up "timetable pullman" for times of buses, but be careful, as many of the pickup and dropoffs points are confusing.
Pescara is obviously a main hub for transport with a huge train and bus station.
The trains are cheap but can be very slow. (It takes over 4 hours to get to Rome for example)
Taxis as we would know them are not always available from Pescara airport and if you call one (its unlikely they will understand you anyway) you will be charged the cost of them getting from their destination to you as well as your fare. So be sure to ask how far they are coming.
Italy is very much a cash society, so be sure to carry cash with you for any form of transport.
There are flights from Ryanair, flyonair and air transat, belleair Airone and and of course the ubiquitous Alitalia.
Flights from Abruzzo Airport go to:
Paris
Barcelona
Berlin
Bucharest
Caglieri
Eindhoven
Frankfurt
Kviv
London
Lviv
Oslo
